I really appreciate David. He helps me to be transparent with myself before God. In the midst of great adversity in David's life, he wrote:
Psalm 143:1-2 (NKJV)
1 A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O Lord, Give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, And in Your righteousness.
2 Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous.
For no one living is righteous in your sight. David knew that he blew it and he did not try to hide it from God. I want to urge you to change the way you pray.
Admit your lackings before God: Your prayerlessness, your addiction to entertainment, your lack of Love for God and for others. I have found that those who are real with themselves and the way they are with God are the ones that actually change. We act like we are tricking someone but the truth is we are selling both ourselves and God short.
This week do the following:
- Be Reflective - think and meditate about your life right now.
- Be Honest - admit where your at in your life and what you need God to help you with
- Be Devoted - attempt, by God's grace, to change your shortcomings
- Be Dependent - NEED GOD! Without Him, you can't do this!
