I know that every New Year we all began thinking about how we can make the next year better. A New Year brings hope that things will change - for the better. A New Year can also be scary.
What will happen with my family?
Will I keep my job?
Will that sick relative make it?
Will this problem end?
Joshua faced this problem in his life as well.
Joshua 1:1 (NKJV)
1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, saying:
Joshua had served under Moses for quite some time. He had witnessed many highs and many lows throughout his time with Moses. I am sure that Joshua learned to genuinely trust Moses' leadership.
Then Moses died.
It was now Joshua's turn to lead. I am sure it was scary. This was new territory for Joshua. Things he had not seen or done before. Joshua's solace was the fact that "the Lord spoke to Joshua." How else would Joshua know what to do?
For you and I, there are some interesting parallels:Over the next few posts we will gather some insights as to how Joshua started out his new journey and apply them to our lives.
- 2008 is Dead. We can never get it back.
- 2009 is new territory. I am sure there are certain fears all of us have
- For you and I, it is the Lord's voice that will give us the direction we need. We must trust in His wisdom and act upon it if we are to conquer the year for God's glory.
Oh yeh, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
