New Year, New Possibilities 9

A young man I know bemoans the fact that God has not changed his wife into a churchgoer.  He longs for a Christian wife to raise his children.  I asked him if he lives out his faith at home and he said no.  Essentially, he wanted God to do something but he did not see that God wanted to use him to accomplish that goal.  By this young man's lukewarmness, he potentially was hindering God's purposes for his household.

We have a part to play in receiving God's blessings and answers to prayer.

Joshua 1:11 (NKJV)

11 "Pass through the camp and command the people, saying, 'Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you will cross over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.' "

Did you catch that statement?  God was giving the land for them to have but they had to go in and possess it.  This New Year, the message is no different. God has many wonderful things in store for us but we must go and possess our possessions.  Appropriating what is already ours takes hard work, discipline, and faith.

Are you up for the job?
