In the last post, we discussed Jesus' communication with the Father. I want to continue discussing this verse because there is another aspect to it that I find encouraging.
John 11:41b-42 (NKJV)
41Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
42 And I know that You always hear Me"
Jesus knew that the Father was always listening to Him. I know we all go into 'prayer mode' now and again. When I lead a group of people in prayer I sometimes get lost in the act of praying and I forget that my Father is actually listening to what I am saying. I think it makes a difference when you realize that God is actually paying attention to what you say.
Jesus took great comfort in the fact that the ear of the Father was tuned in to what Jesus was saying. It is no different for you and I. John said in 1 John 5:15 that if we know God hears us, then we know we will have the answer.
Simply put - Pray like He has listened. Pray like He is listening. Pray like He will answer.
