Extreme Makeover - God Edition!

There are no lost causes when God is at work. In 2 Chronicles 33:1-10 we read of a very wicked King named Manasseh. Listed below is his resume of wickedness:

  • "He rebuilt the sex-and religion shrines his father Hezekiah tore down"
  • "taking orders from the constellations"
  • "He burned his own sons in a sacrificial rite"
  • "He practiced witchcraft and fortunetelling"
  • "He held seances and consulted spirits from the underworld"
  • "placed a carved image of the sex goddess....in the Temple of God"

God, in His infinite wisdom, used another nation to bring Manasseh to his knees:

2 Chron 33:11-13 MSG
Then God directed the leaders of the troops of the king of Assyria to come after Manasseh. They put a hook in his nose, shackles on his feet, and took him off to Babylon.
12 Now that he was in trouble, he went to his knees in prayer asking for help—total repentance before the God of his ancestors.
13 As he prayed, God was touched; God listened and brought him back to Jerusalem as king. That convinced Manasseh that God was in control.

So many times Christians will not be used of the Lord to preach Good news to the God-rejecter. God touched this man while he was in the most deplorable of conditions. May we follow the example of GOD and reach the hurting, the sick, the sinful, the ignorant, and the people that so many overlook. Somehow, the American church has compartmentalized those "suitable" for evangelism. May this not be named among you and I!

Do find that you overlook sinners? How can we change?
