The Entanglement of "Why"

Life is full of circumstances and situations that are confusing. Job's life was full of challenging situations. I don't know about you, but losing my family, health, and source of income would be pretty confusing!! Much of the dialogue between Job and his friends was over the question, "why!?." Job and his friends were looking for the cause behind the calamity. Sometimes asking why is the right question and sometimes it is not. Don't misunderstand me, God wants us to discuss our lives with Him, but there are times that we just can't comprehend what God is doing. In Isaiah 55:9 the Lord said,

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." (AMP)

When we overly focus on the "why" we often times lose sight of the "who." This is where the trap is. We get so trapped in this web of confusion that we lose sight of God. Satan would love to keep us there. He will condemn us for wrong choices, cause us to regret the decisions we have made, and keep us fixed in the past. Job finally realized the need to focus on the Lord and not an answer as to why things occurred when he said:
Job 42:1-3 (NIV)
2 "I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.
3 You asked, 'Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?' Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.

For you and I, when we have searched our heart, our lives, and our Lord for an answer and we have not received one, let's focus on "who" holds your life in the palm of His hands instead of the "why" things are the way they are.

Do you find you focus on the "why" a little to much?

I definitely can find myself focusing on the "why," especially in very difficult circumstances. My prayer is that God would help me to focus on the "who" in these trying times. Good article, much needed!
