Study of the Torah/Bible is a lamp.

"The words of the Torah/Bible give light to a man when he occupies himself with them, and whosoever does not occupy himself with them and is ignorent of them stumbles. Parable of a person who is standing in darkness. When he starts out to walk he meets with a stone and stumbles over it; he meets with a drain and falls into it, striking his face against the ground. Why does he do this? Because he has no lamp in his hand. Such is the foolish one who does not possess words of Torah/Bible. He meets with transgressions and stumbles and dies. For the reason that he is unaquainted with Torah/Bible he goes and sins; as it is said, "The way of the wickedis darkness; they know not at what they stumble" (Prov 4:19). They on the other hand, who occupy themselves with Torah/Bible study have light everywhere. Parable of a person who is standing in darkness but has a lamp in his hand. He sees a stone but does not stumble over it. He sees a drain but does not fall into it, because he has a lamp in his hand; as it is said,

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psa 119:105)" Eveyman's Talmud
